Speaking
of border-crossing, guitar-pop does not tend to be the most
rhythmic style out
there. But Chapel Hill's Roman Candle is the
happy exception.
The group's debut album, "Says Pop" (Outlook Music),
sports plenty of righteous hooks
plus a rhythmic pulse that will put some pep into your giddyup.
Add in the textured sonic atmosphere, and "Says Pop"
is an album with lots more than
just pop going on. Roman Candle plays Sunday at Cat's Cradle
with Mali, The Falling After and Girl.
